Winter in Tallahassee Do’s and Don’ts

Woman with Umbrella

If you plan on spending winter in Tallahassee, there are a few things you should know. Following these dos and don’t can make your winter much more enjoyable.

1. Wear Layers

This winter, you should wear layers. There's a good reason for this. The day may start out cold, but it’s likely to warm up towards noon. If you only have heavy winter clothes on, you’ll be too warm.

2. Carry an Umbrella

Although the winter is believed to be the dry season, the weather still brings along some rain. If you don’t carry an umbrella with you, then you may end up in a downpour. You can prevent being wet and cold by bringing an umbrella everywhere you go.

3. Don’t Expect on Being Snowed In

Although it does snow in Tallahassee, it’s rare for it to happen. In fact, you might not see any snow this winter. That said, if it does snow, you can expect for people to miss school and work. The Tallahassee roads are not well-prepared for the winter weather. You might find it difficult to get around in the snow.

4. Avoid Sickness

With the winter comes illness. If you want to avoid being sick this winter, you need to be proactive. This means taking vitamin C, having a vitamin regimen, and using Elderberry syrup to fight off the flu. You should also wash your hands frequently.
