Tallahassee Sports: The FSU Soccer Team

Soccer balls and goal

There’s big news this fall for Tallahassee sports. The women’s FSU soccer team won the third-round game of the NCAA tournament. They took on South Florida, and walked away with an impressive victory.

More About the Game

Early on in the game, South Florida took the lead. In fact, they scored in the fifth minute of the game. But that’s not unusual, as the Seminoles have given up the first goal in 11 of their 23 season games. In the last minute of the first half, FSU's Jaelin Howell scored a goal that tied up the game.

In the second half, the Seminoles dominated. Eight minutes into the second half, the Seminoles scored again to put them in the lead. It was an extremely physical game that ended up with South Florida having 29 fouls. Meanwhile, FSU had 11 fouls for the game.

For the 13th time in 15 seasons, the Seminoles are moving forward to the NCAA quarterfinals. Whether or not they win, they’ve had an impressive season. They will play on the weekend of November 30th. If they win, the Seminoles will secure a spot in the Semifinals. They will play the winner of the UCLA vs Wisconsin game. Although they lost to UCLA, they beat Wisconsin.
